An Open Letter
By Angela Catley

My Dearest,

Thank you. For loving me. For giving me a taste of what true happiness is like. What else can be greater than being loved in return? Our parting ways does not mean that what we had wasn't real. Nor does it mean that we didn't love each other enough. It could be that I'm not the one for you. Maybe you need something else. Maybe I need something more. Maybe it just wasn't meant to last.

I don't regret falling in love with you and getting my heart broken. Being with you even though we were thousands of miles apart was one of the happiest moments in my life. You're not at fault for breaking my heart. The instance broke my heart. The hope and belief that you're the one I've been waiting for, broke my heart. I do not resent you for letting me go. I want you to be happy even if it's not with me.

I am going to miss you, forever. But I have a memory of you, of us, to keep me going, to stay hopeful; a reminder that happiness is possible. Do you remember how I told you that I've always been a sad girl? That's not the case anymore. And I have you and your old love to thank for it.

Always,
Your girl
