I'll Find Love
By Linda M. Crate
you’ve touched my heart
now go away,
I don’t think I can stand another
word pointed as a stake to impale me;
I’m not some sordid vampire to kill —
I’ve always been a sensitive soul, sweet
as sugar until you beat me into the dust;
then my rage fanned to the surface in
flames as merciless as you, you claim that
you love me but that’s nothing but a
lie; you broke my branches years ago
to satisfy your greed and you mistook
confidence for an attitude, you try to
quash me beneath the boulders of your rage —
my wings will be unerring when they fly
far from the place soaring to the comfort
of love which sings her lilt far from here.
