Distraction
By Linda M. Crate
you’re my distraction —
I think of you at work, at home,
when I should be doing other
things than wasting my time
daydreaming about the topography
of your face, the exact shade of
your eyes, the way you make me
smile just by being you; you’ve
never tried to be anyone but you,
and your honesty is refreshing —
it washes over me in waves, and
makes me believe that perhaps
all those preconceived notions I had
about the whispers of love were
wrong because you are the best
personification of her I’ve ever had,
and you haven’t shattered me.
