Perfect Fit
By Linda M. Crate

you fill me with desire
that burns its fire
across the plains of my
heart, beyond where clouds lie
our souls twine fingers taut
pressing past scars fought
of memories less pleasant —
the times of doubt
have cast their drought
throughout the years, but
we’ve held on despite the rut
of melancholy and ill wills
collecting dust on windowsills —
I love you and you love me,
and forever together we shall be;
for there’s no one I rather love,
you fit my heart like hand in glove.
