Dreamtaker
By Stephen D. Nadaud II

A yearning burns inside my chest,
to feel you by my side,
to hear your every whispered breath,
your every softest sigh.

The first time that we meet, someday,
the angels, they will sing.
But when we leave and go our ways,
I’ll know of parting’s sting.

I yearn to be your shining guard,
and be with you, each night,
to watch you spin an evening yarn,
a dream with no goodbyes.

I’d take that lovely, perfect dream,
and make it come to life,
so that when you awoke from sleep,
we’d never say goodbye.
