Love that transcends death
By Linda M. Crate
autumn’s golden laughter
embraces me in the orange
cupped arms of lilies, but
it was your proclamation
that made my heart pause —
I’ve never loved someone
as much as I’d loved you
in that one single moment,
it made me think that this
must have been the way
Cathy felt about Heathcliffe —
made me wonder if we,
too, would have a love that
transcended the bounds of
death that would claim us
one day when the moon
was dim in your lovely eyes.
