Priority
By Maddie Voigt
I couldn't love my sister,
not after Sophie died.
I couldn't lose her,
she couldn't die.
I would crumble
into a pile
of pieces of myself
If I went through another infant's tragedy.
So I loved you instead.
You left anyway
and my sister is still alive.
What have I become?

I'm fifteen years old, have been published in print twice. It is not the typical love story of two young kids, its something more complex. More painful.
