My One And Only
By Linda M. Crate
you blossom in my rib cage
an emotion I long since thought
dead; you reawakened the
petals of my love that had been
for so long buried beneath
skeins of cynicism and wreaths
of bitterness, you stroked my hair
from my eyes and in this intimate
gesture I saw eternity eclipse
me; it was then that I knew you —
you, were the one that would heal me,
and you were the only one that
would sing a song to nest in my
ears a birdsong, you were the storm
that would forever change my topography —
you were the only one I could love.
