Should You Come
By Fred E. Beaulieu

And should you come in springtime
When the honeysuckles bloom
I’ll make for you a garland
With a scent of sweet perfume

We’ll wander through the woodlands
Where the cherry blossom grows
Then lay amongst the heather
For our blissful sweet repose

And should you come in summer
Like the tepid Spanish tides
I’ll drape your bed with linens
Till the humid breeze subsides

I’ll lace your room with jasmine
From the market down below
Then trim the courtyard lanterns
When the evening shadows grow

Or should you come in autumn
As the winds of change take hold
I’ll tend the warming fires
While October days unfold

I’ll weave you tales of romance
‘Neath the crystal harvest moon
Then guard your ev’ning slumbers
Till the darkness turns to noon

But should you come in winter
May your nordic guides be strong
And lead you though the mountains
To my arms where you belong

I’ll keep a midnight vigil
For your torches from the north
And watch in prayerful silence
Till your caravans come forth
