Just a Man
By Fred E. Beaulieu
I’ve wanted to be chivalrous, a knight upon a steed
A gallant dashing stalwart who performs a noble deed
I’ve tried to be an intellect with words of depth sublime
Dispensing troves of wisdom which withstand the test of time
I strove for wealth and prominence, to woo you with success
Convinced a higher station would be certain to impress
Yet all of this was foolishness, which now at last I see
My quests were only fantasies of who I wished to be
I’m not a worldly voyager who’s travelled to Nepal
A brave and mighty conqueror who’ll answer when you call
A Byzantine crusader with a mission to pursue
I’m just a man who loves you with a simple heart that’s true

I am a lifelong resident of West Michigan, and have enjoyed a rewarding career in computer programming. My interests include music, reading, puzzles, old movies, and of course poetry. I enjoy writing poems which reflect the many faces of life and love.
