Science
By Colton James Mckay
I could write equations,
Postulate and quantify the reasons for which my molecules excite
When space and time sees fit to align your mass with mine,
Wonder at the quantum mechanics between us
And at how gravity is only an illusion when you're around
I could conduct experiments to determine why we might move freely in moments of absolute zero
Still feeling warmth and energy where science and machines cannot
Estimate the number of times I catch myself smiling like a fool
And guess at why you're the only cause.
I could theorize as to the size of a thought
Measure the space in my mind
And find that all it takes is you to fill it up
Count the days we're apart
And contemplate the distance between us
As we scour the stars seeking life and meaning
Only to return home and find it
I could waste my time trying to define exactly what happiness is
Or I could spend it with you.
