Your Choice > My Heart
By Vada
You told me about the war you are going to fight in.
Like many before you and many after it's for the “greater good”.
You told me about the position you want to play in this war.
The way you want to die in this war.
You asked me if I cared.
You told me not to.
You told me you were horrified.
When you saw my eyes tear.
You held me close and said, “everything will be okay.”
“It doesn't feel like it.” I said knowing that it hurt you just as
much as it hurt me to say it.
Here's to putting salt in the already stitch worthy wound.
You were silent.
This was all far to real for two idealistic kids.
I'll never learn to forget you.
