Secret Admirer
By Daquan Johnson
Queen
You know you deserve the finer things
In life
But you’ll never give me a chance
So I just stand idly by
Contemplating ways
That I can get your attention
Scorn by a lovers past and scarlet winds
Wishing I can search within your heart
To repair
The broken menagerie that is your love
To allow you to see
That happiness is something you can find
When you let your guard down
You telling the world that you’re free
But I can see your invisible wall
So I just stand aside
And watch you walk by
Because I can see beyond the surface of your eyes
And though that you shield called pride
But for now, I’ll let destiny decide
Whether we’re meant to be
Because regardless of what I do
Only the man above can see you thru
But Still… You are the one I desire
Truly yours my secret admirer.

My name is Daquan Johnson I’m a poet from Washington DC . I was raised in a low income neighborhood but that doesn't define me or my craft. My poetry is a realistic perspective of society as I see it as a 22 year old black man. I like to rhyme in my poetry in order to convey my message to the ordinary listeners and as a tribute to the poets of yesterday. In all I feel that you will be pleasantly surprised by the perspective that I put in every poem
