I Want It That Way
By Amit Parmessur

Give me a sky of symphonic birds.
I shall silence it, preferring to listen to your warm heartbeats.
Give me a stream of mellifluous flowers.
I shall drown it, preferring to admire your healthy smile.

Believe me, I want it that way.

Offer me a basket of crimson moons.
I shall ignore it, preferring to taste your perfect purity.
Offer me a piano with golden keys and I
shall crush it, preferring to feel your melodious words.

Believe me I want it that way.

Give me a plate of bright rainbows and I
shall run away, preferring to swirl down your soft curves.

This poem flows from the tears of my honest heart;
how many white violets are there in the world?
Let them all shield and honor you as you
wake up every holy morning. You are
a sublime woman; I am a poor poet.

Just offer me a castle of seductive mermaids and I
shall escape, preferring to dream of you,
of your tenderness.

Believe me, I want it that way only.
Sincere romance is a beauty of all beauties.
