Your Musical Anthologies
By Ian Davis
Your musical anthologies
are arranged with precise care
in alphabetical order.
But twilight brings discord.
Careful calculations rendered,
senseless
In the dying light of an august sun.
The wind sighs your lover's retort.
A bite against my ear,
soft breath a scratched recording
in silence, you draw me.
But.
Little else here, in this lost kingdom.
No valley of broken jaws, but of lost freedoms,
given freely in quiet soliloquy,
a silent speech given to one in grasping,
passing,
dark.
