Shadow

Today you weren't in my mind like a song with no lyrics
I could breathe freely without catching the scent of your skin
I could see clearly without your eyes hypnotizing my view
Your gaze no longer pierced through me like a knife of steel
Your compelling features were kept away from my mind
Your touch no longer lingered on my skin like the warm breeze going over me
I laughed and did not hear yours
And I smiled without you
No longer did the memories haunt my every moment of existence
And no longer did they follow me around like a lost shadow
Your soul no longer lived within me
Today your voice didn't chime in through my ears like a soft lullaby
Your smile didn't shine through my eyes and mind as it does every waking moment
But today I missed your touch
and I missed the song that your voice would sing to my heart
Today, I missed you.
