I Need You
By Steven Barnes
I Need You
A sun that doesn’t shine
Grass that doesn’t grow
Wishes that never come true
Life sucks without you
I pace the floor
I keep checking my messages
I shed countless tears
When the number one pops up in my inbox
This heart skips a beat
When I see your name I smile
I read your message twice so I stay happy
You let me soar like a bird
You make me carefree as a child
Happy as a hippie
You’re the water in my rivers
You’re the grass that makes my world beautiful
You’re the peace my soul needs
I have to see you
Whether that means walking around the world
Teaching pigs to fly
Making a politician honest
I will see you
Like a girl needs flowers
Like a human needs oxygen
Like a man needs his sports team
Like a child needs his parent
I need you
You’re the reason I smile
You’re the reason I blush
You’re the reason I love
I love you
You are my soul
My reason for existence
Without you I don’t want to live
I can’t live
I have no emotion without you
I’m just a soulless golem
Please stay with me
I’ve never felt this way before
I want this feeling to stay
I want you to stay
I don’t want anyone else
If someone offered glorious times with someone else
Happy times with someone else
Parties with someone else
Times that I would never forget with someone else
And you were living with the serpent
I’d deal with the tough times with you in a heart beat
Because I love you more than a man will ever love a woman
And if I you ever left me I would slowly rot and die
I
Need
You
