Untouchable
By Brittany Cravens
i am a woman of the earth,
taste my freckled skin so white and soft and fragile;
i am a butterfly's wings.
i live, here, in my palace under you,
i'm under all of you.
i can hear every bit and piece,
i can feel the tremors of your heartbeat,
it travels through the sand,
it soaks the places where i stand,
you'll never have a wisp of me.
i'll know every shard of you,
and they'll batter my body;
every whisper travels on the breeze,
pressing them to me,
i'll feel everything you ever do.
but you won't know the depths of me
because
my heart is a door wrapped in vines.
i am not a fool for you.

My name is Brittany Cravens and I want to understand beauty. I write until my thoughts make sense, or until my eyes drip with exhaustion, and my hand cramps from excessive use. I write because I cannot fly.
