To Dislike
By Mina Tah

I don’t like you
I don’t like you at all
You pretend I don’t exist
Worse than that, it’s easy for you
And even worse, you expect me to do it too
I don’t like you
You abandoned me long ago
And held onto the last bit of goodness I had left
You give me a day every six months
A look out of every 10 run-ins
A blink in my direction, maybe
So you can understand why I don’t like you
You say the most hurtful things
How can I not dislike you
You change our past
Even what cant be changed,
Undone or unsaid
Like a broken time machine
It only works for you
Clearly I don’t like you
The nerve of you
To look me in the eyes
And see through me like no one can
But call it invisible
What gives you the right
To change, take my heart
Without permission.
Give it back
Cause I don’t like you
I don’t like you
I promise, I don’t like you
I wouldn’t change that
But I would do anything not to love you.
