Late Night Streetlight
By FearnHouse
Cruising ‘round the streets at the darkest hour
It’s a slow ride, and I’ll take it easy
I just need a break from all the insanity
A cigarette frees my mind, impedes the pain
I’m driving on a directionless journey
and you make sure I don’t waste my time
waiting for the green…
Right when I pull up,
you give me the “Go”
and I’m back on my way
Back to intervening the thoughts
prolonging the heartache that will pounce
once I close my eyes, lying in bed
trying to dream
But for now I have my pack of Reds
half a tank of petrol
and the lights heeding my desires
I see you in the rear view
growing minuscule
scaled to a molecule
I just wish er’thing was as simple as you
Then just maybe I would be at her house
at this precise moment
Instead of tacking miles upon
this Lincoln TownCar’s odometer

I am 20 (almost 21) years old and am attending Harper College, working towards a degree in Mathematics Education. Writing is something that I have a passion for and enjoy thoroughly. I look forward to pursuing this quest.
