Our Time Has Passed
By Danielle Vessia
Here I lay on my silver platter
Layered with sheets of mistakes and regrets.
I am watching my life tear away
From the moving pictures reside
In my mind so warped and sly.
I stare at the blank white slab
That closes me shut within,
This four walled wasteland.
My confines closed off the world so bright,
So I shall never see myself beyond.
You, walk beyond the valleys of hope
Waiting for that dream, never to come.
It has already betrayed you, before you it.
I think for you my thoughts so warm
That which you die for, beyond your reach.
I cry for you tears so sweet; stained
With red despair down my sunken cheek.
You shall never place your hand there again,
With the intention to make it whole…
That glove shall remain forever more behind in your tracks.
You will never see the day where I transform.
The day will arrive; we’ll realize we were wrong.
The day we look back and realize, there is better…
For us.
It will never arrive to save us.
It is already too late.
