STOP, KISS, THEN BACK TO WORK
By John Grey
You break away from the chair,
the stove, the refrigerator,
even the cloth in your hand -
all these lesser versions of you.
Your waist wills itself into my fingers,
your lips claim your better self,
face against face -
there's never been this kind of close.
Then up from your eyes,
faith cradles all reason,
while soft hand on hard cheek
encircles the heart.
