Distracted
By Kendall Gregory
I can hear you breathing on the other end
The thought of you touching her chest
your fingers run through her hair
kissing her neck
your hands moving all over her body
you're continuing to argue into the phone
I'm too busy picturing her taking your pants off
or maybe you took them off yourself
quickly
with excitement
I'm cringing
Her bedroom is beautiful, just like her
vintage frames hang off moss green walls
I've never seen it with the lights off
does the street light on Whitaker shine through the window and onto the bed
Finally there is silence on the other end
"I didn't hear anything you just said" I admit
I can imagine you with her
in her
God, It's such an intimate experience
I can't imagine letting you touch me now
I don't want to even be near you
You tell me that I deserve to think about this
to picture you with her
"Welcome to my life for the past few months" you say
you've hung up the phone
I hug my knees and wait for morning
