Love's Mistake
By Jennifer Jackson
I grab your hand, our hearts mingle
Near the shop, below its shingle
Heat in cold air made me tingle
I’m not single, I’m not single
I could blame my bad memory
That it went beyond pleasantry
Beg my betrothed for some mercy
How can this be, how can this be?
I’ll hasten home to seek reprieve
Secretly hope he won’t believe
My dark conscience I shall relieve
But he will grieve, but he will grieve
What will you do, where will you go?
I pretend I don’t wish to know
You disappeared in falling snow
Time moves so slow, time moves so… slow
