Agape
By Alexis Del Rosario
If you're longing for something,
I want to be there to fill you again.
When you're sad,
I want to dry your every tear
And make it so you'll
Never cry in anguish or pain again.
Every time you leave
You are my first and last thought
And like the sun and the moon
I'll follow and admire you
Until the end of time
Even if you'll never come to be mine.
If I can't be there
It feels like you're always here with me
Or I wish it were true.
When you gaze at me
I hate myself
For being imperfect
Because you deserve so much better
And how do you love perfection
When you can't give it?
But all I have to give.
You can have.
Quietly and alone,
I am yours.

Though I was born in Spokane, Washington, I traveled around the country for 10 years as an Air Force brat, never settling in more than one place for 2 years, before finally returning home to Spokane for good. Currently I am a freshman at Lewis and Clark high school and am enrolled in a creative writing class typically offered to upperclassmen. I love to write anything from short stories to fiction to songs with my band and I am greatly influenced by world events and writers such as Andrea Gibson and Levi the Poet.
