Interstellar Love
By Michael Mulcahy
there is no trouble here
this crashing of atoms is to romance
sensational, as I was once insatiable
for this earth was boring and I felt alone
but now I am only not content with time
because all the years this Earth shall give
it will never be enough
to share with my shooting star
alas, we shall shine, and brightly so
perhaps she is a phoenix
as she sets my night on fire
the stars vanish behind the glow
outshone by this swirling nebula
it's uncontrollable now
engulfed by this force, larger than life
more power than all those before it
but I dare not shield my eyes
if her beauty be my downfall, make it so
if this brightness blinds, then shall it blind me
at least she'll be the last thing I see
a wave of passion washes over me
she gives me a half smile, a curled bottom lip
her eyes glisten for me, for my love
no longer is there a thorn in my side
nor in my sweetest rose
we are invincible
as no one stops a ferocious tidal wave
no one shall stop us and what is to come
"devour me"
the thought races through my head
"take all of me and I shall do the same for you
then it shall be us, and how we'll thrive
how no one will comprehend our joy
we shall leave them to their cold, dark world
and start anew, inside love's protection"
I am alive!
no greater feeling, or happier day
then a day souls choose one another
they mesh into one
how beautiful, this day
so let's be our own inferno, darling
let's shatter their beliefs
we'll stand the test of time
and we'll surpass life's transgressions
the strongest component is us
the greatest weapon our bond
no one's seen anything quite like it
this interstellar love
