Burn This Wall
By Peter Thorington
You stand stubbornly in denial
Leaving you no option or chance of fleeing
The defeatist results from past calamities
Your chin skims the grass; you hold your head so low
For so much hope that you could possess, where has this cynicism risen from?
A boy will come with his slips and blunders
A day will eclipse if you feed it conviction
Living in your doubt with the entrance already fastened shut
Will keep you solitary eternally
The desire to show you the light, the truth, the happiness
Grows with every instant that your smile hides in the murkiness
Your heart could prosper and your smile could glow
You could know love as it desires your chance
Athletics, grades, family and all will bring you gaiety
But the opportunity you’re missing out on would spark
The exquisiteness that you stow away
Your heart could race; your blood could rush
Your stomach would flutter; your cheeks would blush
You could know what it is to wake up with your cheeks sore
From smiling so hard
You could prove yourself wrong to know that happiness can get better
You could live and experience the most powerful emotion
And say you only did because you took a risk
A risk that you would never think about taking back
Take a break, run away, go and live, or just stay
And live the sentience through not knowing
The chance to love and receive it back
What do you have left to loose?
You’re impenetrable, from how you live
Open up and allow someone to be your life and you theirs
Give it a chance and it’s a moment you will never forget
A second in time that you said you could and you did
You tore down the wall you built and risked it all
Tell me I wasn’t wrong because I wanted it more than you
P.S. Never frown because you have no idea who is falling in love with your smile.
