A Summer Romance
Fred E. Beaulieu
Did e’er two hearts beat more in tune
Than yours and mine that treasured June
When summer winds spoke glorious vows
And blew so sweetly ‘cross our brows
Were e’er two minds so knit as one
Below that bright anointing sun
The thoughts we shared ‘neath sheltering trees
And dreams that flowed with placid ease
Hath e’er two souls been so entwined
Within that season’s sacred shrine
Where, in your arms, my spirit soared
And basked in heaven’s blest reward
Was e’er affection so bestowed
Which scaled the heights of love’s abode
Your tender lips, O bliss sublime
'Twill stir me till the end of time
