About That Kiss
By John Grey
Let me tell you
a little about these eyes.
It’s seeing
that I’m paying them for.
Maybe on their break
they can look sultry,
flutter, all the stuff
that says I’m interested.
But their chief duty
is to look out at
what I’m interested in.
Then they report
to the brain they work for.
As for the brain.
It earns a good salary
to think.
It works long hours
but yes, it does get time off
now and again.
Then, the mind clocks out.
The lips punch in.
